A little history
The first Spanish Grand Prix was held in 1951 on the Pedralbes circuit in Barcelona. Since then, this Grand Prix has alternated between the circuits where it has been held, for example, the Jarama, Montjuic and Jerez Circuits. The latter witnessed the epic battle between Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell in 1986 which the former won by just 14 thousandths of a second.
Since 1991, the Spanish Grand Prix has been held on the Circuit de Catalunya (recently re-named the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya). The most notable of those who have been privileged to be at the top of the podium on this circuit include Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso..
More than a race
The relationship of Barcelona with Formula 1 goes much further than a simple race. The circuit is inspired by the values of innovation, creativity, quality of life, tradition and history which surround the world of Formula 1
